Used in both medical and aesthetic treatments, PRP, professionally known as Platelet Rich Plasma therapy, or in recent times sometimes called, the Vampire Facial, involves injecting plasma, first extracted from your own blood, into the treatment area to promote and accelerate regeneration. As the platelets are taken from the patient’s own blood, there is NO chance of having any allergic reactions.
The process begins with a small amount of blood being taken from your arm into a vial carrying around 15mls or less. This is then placed in a centrifuge and spun for five minutes until the red blood cells in the blood separate from the clear plasma. Packed with platelets, able to generate growth factors and containing various naturally formed proteins, the extracted plasma is injected and/or micro-needled quickly into the treatment area to set about repairing any signs of damage, as they would inside the body naturally.
Treatment areas include the face, under eyes, scalp or around the hairline, hands, neck, body areas and specifically into any scarring or scarred tissue. PRP is typically used to treat the following:
- Improve skin texture
- Acne, Trauma or Surgical scarring
- Hair thinning, promoting hair restoration
- Injured tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints
- Soften the appearance of dark circles under the eyes
A CULTSKIN® Doctor or Skin Specialist will medically assess the area of concern in your consultation and suggest the amount of treatments required to achieve your desired result.
Here at CULTSKIN® we also tend to micro-needle the healthy plasma into the area too, maximising benefits into both the internal and external layers of the skin.
- Virtually no downtime or side effects
- Safe, effective, versatile, non-allergenic

- Trusted results, backed by 6 published clinical studies
- Over 1 million cases performed
- Incredibly high patient satisfaction
PRP FAQs
Since the plasma quality is reliant upon the patient’s own blood, which is taken at the very beginning of the treatment, maintaining a healthy, balanced lifestyle is essential, especially within the lead up to your appointment. From at least a week prior, we would advise the following:
- Consuming foods rich in Iron & Vitamin B i.e. dark, leafy, green vegetables
- Refrain from smoking, drinking alcohol, ibuprofen, aspirin, or anything associated with blood thinning, if medical advice allows.
- Ensure you’re water intake is 2L or more daily, especially on the day of treatment
PRP typically takes about 30 minutes to an hour, depending upon the size of the treatment areas and the attendance of micro-needling to the superficial layers of the skin. As with most treatments, results are optimised the more sessions had, so a treatment plan will be advised upon consultation, to be had every four to six weeks.
Plasma derived from the patient’s own blood should be fully compatible with your body, completely eradicating the chances of any adverse reactions. However, the injections or micro-needling used to reintroduce the plasma may cause initial signs of redness and swelling, signs of bleeding, or possible bruising – all completely normal, and expected to subside anywhere from 12-72 hours post-treatment. Any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch with our Patient Care team who will be more than happy to assist.
